As you may be aware, the Northern Islands of New Zealand hold tremendous appeal, capturing the hearts of many who yearn to explore their beauty. It is a destination often found on people's cherished travel lists. However, visitors sometimes face uncertainty regarding what to pack and how the weather might unfold. Worry not, for we possess extensive knowledge of these matters and are delighted to guide you through your journey.

Seasonal weather

- Summer (December to February)

During the summer months in the Northern Islands of New Zealand, temperatures rise to delightful levels, creating an inviting atmosphere for locals and visitors alike. The days stretch luxuriously, providing ample time for outdoor activities and basking in the sun's warmth. Expect temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F). Pack your favourite summer attire, including lightweight and breathable clothing, swimwear, and accessories such as sunglasses and hats, to shield yourself from the sun's rays and make the most of the pleasant temperatures.

- Autumn (March to May)

As autumn graces the Northern Islands, temperatures mellow, offering a comfortable ambience for exploration. The days gradually grow shorter, creating a cosy setting as the sun sets earlier. Expect temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F). When packing for this season, choose versatile clothing options that can adapt to changing conditions. Opt for layers that can be easily added or removed to accommodate the shifting temperatures. It's a good idea to bring a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings, allowing you to continue enjoying the outdoors comfortably.

- Winter (June to August)

Winter in the Northern Islands brings cooler temperatures, although it remains relatively mild compared to other regions. The days become shorter, and the nights grow longer, creating an intimate atmosphere for indoor activities and embracing the serene beauty of the islands. Expect temperatures ranging from 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F). When preparing for your winter getaway, pack warm clothing essentials such as sweaters, long-sleeved shirts, and a waterproof jacket to shield yourself from occasional rain showers. Additionally, consider including cosy accessories like scarves and gloves to keep yourself snug during cooler moments.

- Spring (September to November)

As spring unfolds in the Northern Islands, temperatures gradually rise, accompanied by the awakening of nature. The days become noticeably longer, offering extended periods of daylight for exploration and adventure. Expect temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F). When packing for this vibrant season, select clothing that combines comfort and versatility. Include light layers that can be adjusted as the weather fluctuates throughout the day. Comfortable footwear is essential for enjoying walks through blooming gardens and nature trails. As the sun shines brighter, don't forget to bring sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the increasing intensity of its rays.

Time difference

  1. The Northern Island time follows New Zealand Standard Time (NZST), which is equivalent to Universal Standard Time plus 12 hours (UTC+12).
  2. For example, when the time in Beijing/Hong Kong is 8:00 am, the time in the Northern Island is 12:00 pm.

Activity tips and information

Skydiving:

  1. Winter in New Zealand is relatively cold from April to September, please wear warm clothes.
  2. Before skydiving, strap on your skydiving shoes.
  3. Cameras and video cameras brought by tourists cannot be carried on the plane.
  4. You will receive training before boarding the plane, mainly to introduce high-altitude skydiving, and then precautions, as well as some key points for everyone to remember.
  5. Before the activity starts, personal items (necklaces, bracelets, watches, big earrings, sunglasses) must be stored in the travel company. The travel company does not necessarily have a safe, and guests need to store valuables in the hotel by themselves or hand them over to relatives and friends.
  6. Since skydiving is very affected by the weather, to avoid skydiving being ruined, it is recommended to book the skydiving activity on the first day of the itinerary, so that if the skydiving on the first day is cancelled, you can continue skydiving the next day.

Of course, these are just guidelines, it is best to check on official websites.
